A lecture was held on 25 October 2017 at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences (MaKS) in which Professor Sheena Radford from the University of Leeds presented a session entitled ‘From folding to FRS: Navigating a career in science’ where she considered the issue of gender in a career in science.
This session was hosted by the Gender Issues Committee and the Department of Gender Studies. Professor Radford’s visit was made possible thanks to the support of Professor Godfrey Laferla, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, and through the intervention of Professor Therese Hunter from the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry.
Professor Radford’s visit to Malta was primarily targeted at visiting the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry and taking part in a research symposium to inaugurate the launch of the new B.Sc. (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry the following day.
