Final year Executive MBA students taking the Entrepreneurship and Innovation elective with Dr Nathaniel Massa at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, presented their business concepts to a panel of seasoned professionals active in the entrepreneurship scene at a GEW 2017 pitching event. Forming part of this year’s edition of the week-long Global Entrepreneurship Week programme, GEW is nationally hosted by the Edward Debono Institute at the University of Malta.
This event was aligned with the MBA participants’ semester-long business start-up idea and feasibility analysis project which forms an integral part of their elective.
The international MBA class presented various business concepts ranging from convenience-related services and tech-based solutions to products and retail ideas – to professionals familiar with the start-up scene, hailing from areas associated with early-stage mentoring, foresight and creativity, knowledge management and IP, crowdfunding, and business consulting.
The opportunity provided the cohort of practicing professionals on the Executive MBA programme with useful insight, considerations and an extent of stress-testing relevant to the feasibility and further pursuit of their business ideas.
In this regard, FEMA and the Department of Management commend the initiatives undertaken by GEW and Malta organisers, the Edward Debono Institute, directed by Dr Leonie Baldacchino – as well as thank all the panel members for their involvement and collaboration at the event.
Following eventual conclusion of their feasibility analysis project, several of the MBA participants will, in due course, be looking into the prospects of taking their idea further. In this regard, Dr Massa and the Faculty augur and wish the students well on their initiatives.
