Submarine geomorphology has become a priority for many research institutions, government authorities and industries globally. The book 'Submarine Geomorphology', edited by Prof. Aaron Micallef (Marine Geology & Seafloor Surveying group, Department of Geosciences), Prof. Sebastian Krastel (University of Kiel) and Dr Alessandra Savini (University of Milano-Bicocca), was launched at the 9th International Congress on Geomorphology held in New Delhi, India, between 6 and 11 November 2017.
The book, which is published by Springer, is a product of the Submarine Geomorphology working group of the International Association of Geomorphologists. Involving more than 60 academics and practitioners worldwide, this book provides a detailed review of the state of the art of the study of submarine landforms and processes, extending from shallow coastal environments to deep abyssal plains. It also presents the principal methods used to investigate submarine landscapes, and the key research questions that need to be addressed in the near future. The book is useful for undergraduate and graduate students, and professionals with limited training in this field.
