Master of Arts in Translation and Terminology, 2018 edition
Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies
The University of Malta shall be offering a newly designed full-time Master of Arts in Translation and Terminology, starting October 2018 for a study period of three semesters: a perfect opportunity for both European and non-European students who seek English as a language of instruction, enabling them to enhance their English-language proficiency while learning a profession. The English-speaking environment combined with the Mediterranean climate, culture and lifestyle makes the island an ideal backdrop to their scholarly journey.
The Masters is intended for those students who wish to pursue careers as translators in fields which are constantly experiencing a significant increase in market demand, such as the broadcasting and film industry, the publishing industry, European institutions, and those industries which require technical, scientific, legal or financial translation.
The M.A. offers a main core study programme combined with a specialisation strand. This enables students to develop solid foundations in translation studies in general, while at the same time having the opportunity to choose and focus on one of the three specialisation fields offered: audiovisual translation, literary translation and translation for specific purposes. Language combinations shall preferably encompass English, Maltese, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese.
