The Department of Gender Studies is built on three pillars: teaching, research and activism. Its theoretical positions include: feminisms, masculinities, queer studies, and postcolonialism; and gender is viewed through these lenses. At its core, intersectionality is paramount and this is played out through engagement across all gendered spaces.
Postgraduate courses that will commence in October 2018 are:
- Master of Gender Studies (by research)
This is a 90-ECTS postgraduate degree of which 30 are taught: Research Methods in Gender Studies and Epistemologies in Gender Studies. A dissertation by research (approximately 35,000 to 40,000 words will earn the remaining 60 ECTS.
- Master of Gender, Society and Culture
This is a 90-ECTS postgraduate degree of 60 ECTS are taught: Research Methods in Gender Studies and Epistemologies in Gender Studies, Gender based Violence, Gender and Culture and Gender and Social Justice. A dissertation (approximately 20,000 words) will earn the remaining 30 ECTS.
