Professor Sandra Buttigieg actively participates in the Network for Evaluation of One Health, a COST Action which seeks, through collaboration between human health, animal health, environmental health and ecohealth, to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, also mentioned in the speech by Rector, Prof. Alfred Vella during the opening of this academic year.
Specifically, the aim of One Health is to invite transdisciplinary collaboration and action to solve problems such as obesity, antibiotic resistance, zoonosis, and others, as well as ensuring that ecosystems are preserved.
After four years of hard work, and networking, COST Action TD1404 NEOH is reaching its final stages. The academics involved in the COST Action are currently working on a meta-analysis to bring together case studies emerging from the Action, as well as literature related to One Health, which has been identified as part of the systematic review. Prof. Sandra Buttigieg has contributed to a handbook on One Health. The full-text open access handbook is available online.
Full details on COST Action NEOH are available on the website.
Professor Sandra Buttigieg would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Professor Janet Mifsud, a highly active country co-ordinator for COST, and, who has always supported her throughout the exciting journey of her participation in COST. In particular, Prof. Buttigieg thanks Prof. Mifsud for nominating her to represent Malta in several COST Actions related to her areas of expertise.
