Dr Jackson Levi Said, resident academic within the Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy (ISSA), has recently been invited to deliver a plenary talk at Future Gravitational Alternatives (FUGA) Conference in Valencia. The Conference was organised by the Quantum Black Holes, Supergravity and Cosmology group at the Department of Theoretical Physics & IFIC of the University of Valencia & CSIC.
FUGA promotes the discussion of open problems in cosmology and astrophysics which have been recently brought to the fore by the final results of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Planck mission. This is one of the largest problems in physics, and is already shaping the direction of future space missions by the ESA.
Dr Said discussed a new theory which has less tension than standard theory incorporating the new results by Planck and others. This is a core theme in the research streams of ISSA and is a growing research area with more undergraduate and postgraduate students opting for projects in cosmology and astrophysics.
