A workshop on Google Scholar Profiles was held on the 20 November 2018, organised by the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) in cooperation with the Library Committee. The event aimed to showcase the growing significance of Google Scholar in various sectors, including its importance for University rankings.
Following a welcome by Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino (QAC Chair) and an overview of Google Scholar by Ms Kaja Slonina (Assistant Librarian), UM’s top ten most cited scholars were invited to share their experience with the audience. Currently, UM’s most cited scholars are Prof. Peter Mayo, Prof. Giovanna Bosica, Prof. Patrick J. Schembri, Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, Prof. Bruno Biavati, Prof. Joseph N. Grima, Prof. Giuseppe Di Giovanni, Prof. Lino Briguglio, Prof. Georgios Yannakakis and Prof. Albert Caruana.
The workshop was hailed as an important step towards an increased recognition and appreciation of the research carried out by UM’s academic staff. Following the event, a complimentary lunch ensued, during which the attendees continued to share and discuss their experience with their colleagues.
