On the strength of a BSc (Math&Phys) and MSc (Math), Dr Martha Borg read for a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Sheffield supervised by P. W. Fowler FRS and co-advised by Prof. Irene Sciriha.
The university awarded Dr Martha Borg a distinction, the Turner Prize for an Outstanding PhD Thesis. The Turner Prize is an annual award established by a gift from the late Emeritus Professor W E S Turner, FRS, for the encouragement of postgraduate students of Chemistry who are at the beginning of a research career.
A postgraduate event at which the award would be presented and the awardee will give a brief talk with an overview of her PhD work will be held around the end of September.
