International IT company, part of the Corel Corporation, a global leader in cross-platform solutions, has just renewed its Gold Partner status of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), continuing to support students through the provision of modern IT tools.
During an open online meeting, Senior Vice-President of Parallels, Mr Nick Dobrovolskiy, Parallels Director of Academic Programs, University of Malta alumni Parallels Team Leader Ian Sant and other company leaders met with Professor Carl James Debono, Dean of the Faculty, faculty officials and students.
Parallels donated 100 software set licenses to the University of Malta, costing €13,193 for the use of key Parallels products. These products can be freely used by staff and students for the purposes of study and to fulfil different tasks within so-called “knowledge work and activities”. Long-term partnership and possibilities of mutual cooperation were also discussed.
“Parallels has been investing for many years into education of young bright developers at universities, because we believe that the team with talented young sharp minds opens the gate to incredible achievements. We appreciate the high level of education at the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, and Parallels will continue to support the faculty going forward”, said Nick Dobrovolskiy, Senior Vice-President of Parallels.
“The Faculty of ICT strongly believes in collaboration with industry to provide the best education to our students. We are committed to excellence in our teaching and research and this needs the use of modern tools that are not always easily accessible to universities. Such donations provide much needed tools to our students. On behalf of the Faculty, I would like to thank Parallels for their support and investment in our students,” said Prof. Debono.
