It can be said that behavioural economics can inform teaching and education policy more generally, and a number of academics are arguing that one of the best ways to do this is by teaching behavioural economics through the medium of film.
Being one of the most evolved forms of story-telling, film is an ideal way of enabling learners to master concepts more quickly, which is why Dr Marie Briguglio together with Charity-Joy Acchiardio, Dirk Mateer and Wayne Geerling presented a paper with a database of 30 short film and media scenes and three detailed lesson plans that may be used as jumping-off points for instructors.
The paper, entitled ‘Behavioural economics in film: Insights for educators’, may be read in its entirety online.
