Professor Sandra C. Buttigieg, Head of Department of Health Services Management at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta, chaired the international conference organised virtually on behalf of ERNST, titled Barriers and Facilitators in Implementing Second Victims Programmes - An International Perspective, on 26 April 2021.

She chaired this conference as co-leader of Work Group 4 of ERNST – COST ACTION CA19113 THE EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NETWORK WORKING ON SECOND VICTIMS.

The Keynote Speakers were:

• Prof. Jose J. Mira, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, Spain, who presented "Speaking-up of our own errors. Safety culture, resilience, and legal certainty; 
• Prof. Albert Wu, Johns Hopkins University, USA who presented "RISE (Resilience in Stressful Events) peer support program" and 
• Prof. Stephen Pratt and his team from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, USA, who spoke on "Implementation of a state-wide peer support pilot program: What we did, how we did it, and what we learned".
