On 17 October, KSU held a vigil at the University of Malta to commemorate five years since the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia entitled '5 years on | Remembering Daphne Caruana'.
The Rector, numerous deans, lecturers and students as well as members of the Caruana Galizia family were in attendance. KSU President Ms. Alexandra Gaglione who reflected on the effect Daphne has had on her and students alike. An address was then given by KSU Social Policy Officer Jeremy Mifsud who spearheaded this project where he explained the aim of this mural to remember her but more importantly to inspire, inspire the next generation of not only journalists but activists.

The mural, which was worked on by Amy Aquilina, Alessia Cacciatore and Rasha Belle Zammit Cutajar was then unveiled for the attendees and was blessed by Dr. Rev. Stefan Attard, Dean of the Faculty of Theology. One of the artists then explained the creative choices made, such as the incorporation of Maltese fauna and flora and the ‘Forget Me Not’ flower to show that in her absence she will still be remembered. A short and intimate speech was then given by Ms. Megan Mallia, Daphne Caruana Galizia's niece who thanked the artists and KSU for the initiative. At the end of the event tokens mirroring the mural were given out to attendees by the executive of KSU.
