The University of Malta starts its new Academic Year today, with over 4309 new students joining its community (figure updated as at 1 October 2022). Further 700 Erasmus+ students who will be registered for individual study-units. Over 2671 students will be following undergraduate courses, while over 1638 students will be reading for postgraduate degrees.
A total of 1460 international students representing 123 different countries will be pursuing studies at the University this year. The total number of students at the University of Malta for academic year 2022-2023 is 11809 who are following a total of 947 courses.
Over 1106 students will be joining Junior College, to bring the total number of students to 1909.
The Opening Ceremony was held on Monday, 3 October 2022 and the theme for this year's ceremony was “Know the true, do the good and delight in both.”
University Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, addressed attendants present at Sir Temi Zammit Hall as well as all those following remotely via a live-stream of the event. His address was followed by a speech delivered by KSU President, Ms Alexandra Gaglione.

- Master of Science in Nursing (Cancer Care, Critical Care, Emergency Care, Infection Prevention and Control, Palliative Care and Skin and Wound Care)

- Certificate in Environmental Education and Interpretation
- Certificate in ICT Foundation Studies
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Adult Education, Training and Development (Top-up)
Lectures for continuing students commenced on 26th September 2022. Lectures in most cases for year 1 students will commence on 6th October 2022.
