The UNESCO Chair in Global Adult Education UNITWIN partner, the Department of Lifelong Learning at the University of Kalyani, Kalyani, West Bengal, India organised a global webfest in cooperation with the Chair. It highlights the relevance for Adult Education and Lifelong Education in general of India's arguably greatest subaltern intellectual, policy maker and educator: Dr B. R. Ambedkar. A dhalit who studied in India, New York (Columbia University. PhD) and London (law and called to the bar) he struggled and taught, as well as legislated for the dismantling of the caste system. Prof. Peter Mayo and Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, former University of Malta Pro-Rector, addressed the meeting in its opening session.
