Mount St Joseph in Mosta hosted 24 bright young minds through the Julian's Pathfinder Foundation (JPF) from 4 to 7 September for the Julian’s Tech Startup Challenge.
Prof. Valerie Sollars (Pro-rector for strategic planning and sustainability and a previous Dean of the Faculty of Education) opened the final session of the event, which focused on artificial intelligence.
The University of Malta is thrilled to support the JPF in bringing these events to life. It's an honour to be part of such an exciting initiative. This year, 14 boys and 10 girls engaged with various University speakers, including Prof. Alexei Dingli, Dr Kristian Guillaumier, Prof. Richard Muscat, Prof. Schembri Wismayer, Dr Dylan Seychell and Dr Claudia Borg. Students were also exposed to potential business careers in IT by speakers such as Dr Angelo Dalli, a local IT entrepreneur. They got more information about intellectual property from Nicki Camilleri from the Knowledge Transfer Office.
The whole Tech StartUp Challenge event was led superbly by Celine Suban, a young graduate of the University's Faculty of ICT and herself an entrepreneur. Adrian and Nadia Spiteri, Julian's proud parents, thank the University and Prof. Pierre Schembri Wismayer for once again helping out in what they hope will become an ever-more popular annual event.
