On Thursday 25 January 2024, Australian High Commissioner to Malta, Mr Matt Skelly, paid a visit to the Institute for Sustainable Energy (ISE), where its Director, Prof. Luciano Mule’ Stagno, gave him a tour of its laboratories.
Prof. Mule’ Stagno explained the areas of research within the Institute and discussed with Mr Skelly possible collaborations with Australian counterparts.
The two also discussed energy policy in Malta and Australia, and how both policies are striving to achieve energy independence and attempting to break the reliance on fossil fuels.
Whilst they are vastly different countries with hugely disparate population densities and land availability, there is still much scope for collaboration on subjects of common interest, said Prof. Mule’ Stagno.
Back in 2016, the Australian High Commission had also facilitated a visit by world-renowned Solar pioneer, Prof. Martin Green, who had given the keynote speech at the ISE conference, and was then accompanied by Prof. Mule’ Stagno to Sicily where they visited the University of Catania.
