The Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development within the University of Malta is excited to announce its participation in the recently launched GREENMO project. The University of Malta is a partner within the project consortium with Prof. Maria Attard leading the research team from the University. The kick off meeting was coordinated by the University of West Attica, the lead partner, in Athens on 19-20 February 2024.
The GREENMO project aims to promote the integration of Green and Inclusive Mobility hubs for greener MED living areas by leveraging citizens' real needs. It has been structured based on an integrated, participatory approach that incorporates both top-down and bottom-up perspectives. The ultimate goal of the project is to foster low carbon mobility in living areas with the focus on mitigating the impact of urban mobility on the environment (CO2 reduction). This will be achieved by supporting public Authorities on how to holistically leverage "mobility hubs" schemes for climate change adaptation, while actively involving citizens and local communities to address their real needs/barriers towards shifting their behaviour to more environment-friendly modes.
GREENMO project is co-funded in the frame of Interreg EuroMED Programme with a consortium consisting of the University of West Attica, Greece as Lead Partner, University of Malta, University of Cyprus, A LOT s.r.l., Italy, Bax & Company Ltd, Spain and the City of Ljubuski, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project will run over the next two years during which a number of activities are planned across the project consortium covering six countries.
