Ms Ylenia Camilleri and Ms Diane Mizzi, who are both reading for a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management at the Faculty of Education within the University of Malta, have recently paid a visit to two UK schools to observe their educational practices.
They went to Hillhouse CofE Primary School and Lambourne Primary School, both of which form part of the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust (EFSPT) in England.
Both schools also adopt what is called the Trauma Perceptive Practice (TPP), which is a strategy recommended by the Essex County Council that ‘enables adults to recognise and respond supportively to those who have been impacted by traumatic stress so pupils can progress with their learning’.
Another integral part of their visit was shadowing the head of the school, holding interviews with the leadership teams and attending performance management meetings.
The study visit was “an incredible opportunity to gain insight about school discipline in other educational settings”.
