Dr Alexander Farrugia, a senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Malta Junior College, was recently invited to give talks in two separate online seminars.
On 22 March 2024, he gave a 45-minute talk titled "On the Adjugate Matrix and the Polynomial Reconstruction Problem" at the 05C50 online seminar organized by Prof. Steven Kirkland and Hermie Monterde of the University of Manitoba, Canada.
On 29 April 2024, he gave a 30-minute talk titled "Paths, Walks and the Adjugate Matrix" at an online seminar hosting colloquium talks on contemporary mathematics topics. This seminar was organized by Prof. Milica Anđelic from the University of Kuwait.
Both talks were well attended, and both sparked interesting questions by the audience. These two invited talks are a result of a recent paper that Dr Alexander Farrugia published in the Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra (ELA): A. Farrugia “Recovering the characteristic polynomial of a graph from entries of the adjugate matrix” Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra, 38 (2022), 697-711.
