Remember battlebots on TV, and being extremely curious about how such creative and cutting-edge robots can be created?
A recent initiative of the University of Malta’s Department of Artificial Intelligence saw second-year AI students participate in a robotics competition with their own robotic creations, as part of the Robotics study-unit.
The competition featured a maze-solving challenge, and eight different robots competed to navigate through the maze from start to finish in the shortest time possible.
It is an opportunity for students to use the skills acquired during the course and aims to inspire other young individuals to choose the area of AI, showing them how fun it could be.
Dr Ingrid Vella from the Department of Artificial Intelligence expressed her pride at the spirit of comradery and the sharing of skills and insight between the students that took part.
