Over 50 students and staff members of the University of Malta enjoyed a cultural tour at the newly-renovated Grand Master's Palace in the heart of our capital city, Valletta, on Tuesday 4 June 2024.
The tour, organised by our Conferences & Events Unit, was led by qualified tour guide, Ms Veronica Barbara.
The history of the building which was constructed by the Knights of St John spans over 450 years. During the British period, it served as the Governor's Palace and was the seat of Malta's first constitutional parliament in 1921. Presently, it is the seat of the Office of the President of Malta. The Palace welcomes around 300,000 visitors per year.
This Cultural Tour served as a great social activity session for UM employees to interact in an out-of-office environment.
Pro-Rector for Staff & Student Affairs and Outreach, Prof. Carmen Sammut, also attended the cultural tour and took the time to network with everyone present.
A special thanks to Heritage Malta for providing this wonderful opportunity.
