It’s time to build the future – take this unmissable opportunity to get to know the branches that make up Robotics, in a fun way while uniting the vibrant community of young minds who are passionate about building robots.
Under the initiative of Dr. Ing. Marvin Bugeja, a senior lecturer in the Department of Systems & Control Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Malta has recently seen the inception of its first Robotics Club for UM students.
The club is currently composed of around 20 students from three different faculties and operates under the mentorship of Dr Bugeja himself.
Although not yet officially registered, the UM Robotics Club is already active and is gearing up for an exciting challenge: the upcoming IEEE Region 8 Robot Championship 2024.
This popular competition, to be held in Malta this Autumn, allows university students to showcase their skills in robot design and implementation, and is open to university students from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Robotics Club aims to do more than preparing students for such competitions. It strives to create a vibrant hub for all UM students interested in the multidisciplinary fascinating realm of robotics.
Robotics integrates various fields of study, including mechanical and electronics engineering, control systems, computer and software engineering, mathematics, and others. In the near future the club plans to organise more technical talks and lectures, as well as practical workshops for its members.
These activities will provide student members with opportunity to learn and collaborate on projects related to the fascinating and increasingly relevant world of robotics.
