The Department of Information Policy and Governance at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences are delighted to announce that it had co-hosted the CRiTERIA OSINT Training and Final Conference which took place from 16 July to 19 July 2024, at the CERTH centre in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Organised under the EU-funded project CRiTERIA, the events brought together practitioners from over eight EU countries and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to showcase the potential of Open-Source information (OSINT). The training program (July 16-18) equipped NGOs and first-line practitioners with essential OSINT skills to aid vulnerable communities. The half-day workshop on 18 July, focused on OSINT's role in crime prevention and investigation, featuring practical sessions on analysing Telegram channels and enhancing lexicons.
The final conference on 19 July, featured renowned speakers discussing OSINT tools in security and humanitarian contexts. Topics included cross-border organised crime, victim identification, and technological insights from the CRiTERIA project.
Dr Aitana Radu, lecturer from the Department of Information Policy & Governance and a CRiTERIA project partner, was a key trainer and speaker, highlighting the significant role of OSINT in addressing modern challenges and its applicability across various sectors
