15 July is World Youth Skills Day, highlighting the need to prepare young people for employment, fulfilling work and entrepreneurship.
On this occasion, the Newspoint team approached Dr Anne Marie Thake from the Department of Public Policy within the
Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, who has recently contributed to a publication on the topic (namely ‘Contemporary Challenges in Social Science Management: Skills Gaps and Shortages in the Labour Market’), to reflect on how our University is preparing its students to contribute to our ever-evolving world.
Courses at UM are designed to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving, innovation is another cornerstone with state-of-the-art laboratories, partnerships with industries that offer internships and placements provide real-world experience, and collaboration is always emphasised.
