On 26 September 2024, the SEA-EU Concert took place at Villa Doria d'Angri in Naples, organised by Parthenope University.
This event showcased performances by artists from Malta and partner universities in Gdansk (Poland), Kiel (Germany), Split (Croatia), and Naples (Italy). Each participating university held a music competition, inviting students and staff to submit performances.
A jury from the SEA-EU selected the winners based on musical talent, stage presence, and overall presentation. The concert celebrated a rich tapestry of multicultural artistic expressions united by the universal language of music.
Clara Galea and Julia Marta Miller, both students from the University of Malta, shared their positive experiences at the concert. Clara, a student at the Department of Music Studies, School of Performing Arts, highlighted the opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and countries while exploring historical and musical landmarks in Naples. She noted the concert's success in presenting various musical styles and fostering collaboration among students from different backgrounds.
Julia, a third-year DMus at the School of Performing Arts, Music Studies, expressed her enjoyment of performing alongside colleague Justyna Zanko in the beautiful chapel at Villa Doria d'Angri, which offers stunning views of the Bay of Naples. They performed two movements from Szymanowski's Sonata for Violin and Piano in D Minor. She appreciated the chance to engage with fellow performers from various countries and participate in an enlightening tour of the Conservatory of Naples, complete with its remarkable library and museum. Julia concluded that the experience would inspire her music career for years to come.
This mobility was supported by the SEA-EU project budget.
