The University of Malta and the American University of Kuwait (AUK) recently concluded a Memorandum of Understanding which will cover collaboration over a period of five years. This follows an introduction made by H.E Dr George Said Zammit, Ambassador of Malta for Kuwait earlier this year. Further talks and a visit took place, during which the opportunity for collaboration in student and faculty exchange were discussed in more detail.
Established in 2004, the American University of Kuwait excels in academic research and offers vibrant education in arts, sciences, and humanities, supporting Kuwait's economic, social, and cultural development. As the leading private undergraduate liberal arts institution in the region, AUK is dedicated to educating responsible leaders committed to knowledge and service, emphasizing freedom of thought, critical analytical skills, a multicultural environment, and community service.
The UM has a long-standing collaboration with the State of Kuwait and has been receiving scholarship holders funded by the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait since 2002. A total of 135 Kuwaiti nationals have graduated from the University of Malta so far, building a strong UM alumni community in Kuwait and beyond.This new collaboration with AUK holds the potential to extend this collaboration with Kuwait into a different form of engagement which will potentially lead to collaboration between UM and AUK academics and exchange opportunities for students in different areas of study.
