Dr Felicity G. Attard was invited to deliver a lecture at Brazil’s largest conference on the Law of the Sea, hosted by the Centro de Estudos em Direito do Mar ‘Vicente Marotta Rangel’ at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
Her presentation entitled ‘Human Rights at Sea: Legal Protections and Challenges,’ examined the interrelationship between the law of the sea and human rights law, as well as the major international legal frameworks and jurisdictional complexities relating to the application of human rights at sea. Dr Attard’s session also provided an analysis of landmark human rights jurisprudence in this field and concluded by addressing current pressing challenges facing the protection of human rights at sea today.
The presentation ended with a Q&A session, engaging participants in a lively discussion.
