The Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) is honoured to announce the appointment of President Emeritus, Dr George Vella, as its new Chairperson.
Established in 1990, MEDAC was set up based on an agreement between the governments of Malta and Switzerland, with the aim of providing advanced instruction to junior diplomats and students seeking an international career in diplomacy, international and non-government organisations or the private sector.
As an institution of higher learning, MEDAC offers advanced (Masters) degrees in Diplomatic Studies, as well as in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security (jointly with George Mason University).
Dr Vella’s distinguished contribution to diplomacy and foreign affairs provides MEDAC with leadership that will further strengthen the legacy of providing excellent academic services to young international diplomats in the making.
He succeeds Prof. Godfrey Pirotta, Professor of Government and Policy Studies, and a well-known academic among different generations of students, writer, Ambassador and social activist.
