Dr Luca Di Gennaro Splendore attended the 9th Meeting of of the Commission for Africa organised by the United Nations.
More than 50 countries participated participated, including the management of the National Statistics Office.
This Conference attracted attendees from around world, including representatives from the UK, Japan, Bhutan, and Malta.
Dr Splendore is an applied statistician at the University of Malta.
Africa must urgently invest in robust data and statistical systems to accelerate sustainable development, urged Oliver Chinganya, the Director of the Africa Centre for Statistics at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
The Statistical Commission for Africa establishes benchmarks for statistical standards and methodologies throughout the continent, influencing data initiatives at national, sub-regional, and continental levels.
The mission of Luca Di Gennaro received support from the Maltese Ambassador, Ronald Micallef, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
