A group of postgraduate translation students registered in the audiovisual translation specialisation stream, coordinated by Dr Giselle Spiteri Miggiani, has just returned from the Università degli Studi di Palermo, where they attended an international audiovisual translation and accessibility symposium featuring presentations, talks, and workshops. Dr Spiteri Miggiani was also invited as a guest speaker at this event titled 'New Technologies in Audiovisual Translation and Accessible Tourism Transforming Training for the Future'.
This study trip provided students with diverse perspectives, allowing them to participate in practical workshops, engage with peers from another university, familiarise themselves with technologies, and meet scholars they frequently reference. Most importantly, it fostered team building in preparation for the second semester, which includes team-based practical workshops and accessibility projects locally.
The Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies regularly organises local and overseas field trips to enhance the learning experience and bridge academia with professional practice.
