The University of Malta Maritime Platform (UMP) delegation visited the state-of-the-art Maritime MT facilities in Ħal Far on 25 September 2024. This visit marks a significant step in fostering collaboration and advancing the maritime sector in Malta. The MaritimeMT is collaborating with the UMP in providing assistance in the Marine and Maritime Conference scheduled for the 7-9 May 2025.
The UMP delegation, led by Chair Prof. Adriana Vella, included Vice Chair Dr Ritienne Gauci, Ms Miriam Camilleri (representing the Malta Maritime Forum), Prof. Inġ. Claire De Marco, Prof. Norman A. Martinez Gutierrez, Prof. Matthew Montebello, Ms Angie Mifsud, and Inġ. Elisa Vella. They were warmly welcomed and guided by Mr Alan Amato, Sales and Marketing Manager at Maritime MT.
During the visit, the delegation was given an extensive tour of Maritime MT’s impressive facilities. These included classrooms equipped with modern learning tools, specialised workshops, and advanced simulation labs designed to provide immersive training experiences for maritime professionals. The delegation engaged in discussions on the potential for collaboration in education, training, and research initiatives aimed at further strengthening Malta’s maritime sector.
Maritime MT, a leader in maritime training, plays a pivotal role in preparing professionals for the challenges of the maritime industry. The visit highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to innovation, knowledge exchange, and the continued development of the maritime sector in Malta.
The UMP is a growing platform that is developing its outreach and impetus on local to regional marine and maritime efforts to see these sectors innovate to achieve effective sustainability.
