Lecturers Ms Juanita Sapiano (Department of English) and Ing. Franco Dalli (Department of Creative Arts & Design) recently participated in a seminar focusing on the European dimension of Quality Assurance (QA). The event, held in Brussels, Belgium, in December, was organised by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).
The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of QA fundamentals at the European level, offering valuable insights into the diverse contexts where internal and external QA mechanisms are applied within educational institutions. Such mechanisms play a vital role in fostering trust across comparable educational programs, thereby supporting qualification recognition and facilitating the mobility of students and professionals across Europe.
Key topics discussed included the Bologna Process, the European Commission’s priorities for QA in education, the roles of primary stakeholder bodies within educational institutions and the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG). The seminar also highlighted the importance of meaningful student involvement in QA and addressed critical QA practices in the field.
Ms Juanita Sapiano and Ing. Franco Dalli currently serve as chairperson and member, respectively, on the JC Committee for Quality Assurance.
