A new book features Prof. Lino Briguglio, a Senior Fellow at the University of Malta, as the protagonist. In “No man is an Island”, published by KITE group, a hundred and ten authors each contribute a short article on Lino as they know him.
Some of the contributions present Lino on the fore-front of public life, while others refer to his backstage private life, forged within family life and friendships. Lino emerges as a free-thinker and a plain talker, a passionate teacher and persevering researcher, with a wide range of interests including art, language, religion, sport, philosophy, baking and fishing.
Prof. Briguglio has been teaching Economics at UM since 1976. During his employment at the University of Malta, he headed the Department of Economics, the Department of Banking and Finance, the Islands and Small States Institute, the University Gozo Campus, and the Foundation for International Studies. He is one of the most highly cited academics at UM.
The book is edited by Prof. Marie Briguglio and Prof. Michael Briguglio, Lino’s daughter and son respectively, who gave the contributors complete leeway as to what to write, the style and the language to write in. The written contributions are complemented by bio-notes, photos, newspaper cuttings, sketches and paintings, quotes and design elements, which together make this a unique full-colour book.
