The Centre for Labour Studies has submitted a response to the Malta Labour Migration Policy Consultation Document, 2025.
The Centre for Labour Studies is the oldest centre at the University of Malta, and a regular critical voice and educational service provider in the field of labour policy and labour relations in Malta since 1981.
Among other things, the Centre recommended facilitating procedures for family reunification for non-EU migrant workers, and more effective monitoring of areas where health and safety concerns are high, such as in construction.
The Centre urges the government to place migrant workers' voices and issues at the centre of policy. The Centre also highlighted the need for stronger support structures, including training for government officials providing guidance.
