In July, Sciberras was the sole Maltese participant in the summer school, held from June 30 to July 6. Alongside 31 students from various disciplines, she visited EU institutions such as the European Parliament, Court of Justice, European Commission, Publications Office, and Court of Auditors. Presentations covered AI in translation, translation tools, and multilingual education. Participants engaged in practical exercises, including multimedia translation and legal text translation. Former student of the department, Sephora Francalanza, provided feedback on Sciberras’ legal translation.
Six months later, on December 3-4, Sciberras represented Maltese at the Citizens’ Languages Days, which focused on accessibility and clear language in the EU. She attended a workshop led by European Parliament translators—many of whom are alumni of the Department of Translation, Terminology, and Interpreting Studies. Maltese Members of the European Parliament also participated, emphasising the crucial role of translators in making complex topics accessible to citizens.
Sciberras expressed gratitude for these enriching experiences, made possible by her course’s accreditation under the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) network. The EMT quality label, awarded by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation, recognises MA programs that meet professional standards and market demands.
