The Department of Business and Enterprise Management within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (FEMA) at the University of Malta successfully hosted the second edition of the FEMA Entrepreneurship Bootcamp from 24 to 26 March 2025. The event was generously sponsored and hosted by PwC Malta, providing students with a dynamic, real-world business environment that reflected the spirit of entrepreneurial exploration.
Dr Antonietta Rosiello coordinated the bootcamp, shaping a programme focused on hands-on learning and collaboration to help students develop entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and practical problem-solving skills. Around 30 students participated in person, including not only students from across the University of Malta but also a small number of visiting students, marking a significant step in fostering interfaculty and international collaboration while expanding access to entrepreneurship education beyond FEMA.
“This year’s bootcamp was an extraordinary experience that brought together diverse minds and challenged them to think entrepreneurially in a highly practical and supportive environment,” said Dr Rosiello.
Lisa Pullicino, Partner at PwC Malta highlighted “This was our second year sponsoring and hosting the FEMA Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, reaffirming our commitment to investing in the student community. We are proud to collaborate with the Faculty on this among other initiatives, equipping students with skills beyond academia - empowering them to drive growth through innovation and leadership.”
Participants had the opportunity to engage with a number of successful entrepreneurs, who shared their journeys and lessons learned during dynamic sessions. These encounters inspired students to explore innovative ideas, take risks, and develop viable business models. The bootcamp also featured a series of immersive, team-based challenges grounded in real-world scenarios, culminating in a high-energy final competition where student teams pitched their business ideas.
According to Prof. Vincent Cassar, Head of the Department of Business and Enterprise Management, "Events like the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp are essential in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. It’s not just about teaching business—it’s about empowering students to act, to collaborate, and to innovate with confidence across cultures and disciplines."
International engagement further enriched the experience. The bootcamp was joined remotely by students from partner universities including Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Georgia), Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (Poland), Glasgow Caledonian University (Scotland), and Turiba University (Latvia). Their involvement contributed to a truly global atmosphere, encouraging meaningful exchanges across borders and backgrounds.
The event also aligned with the objectives of the Platform for Multicultural Organisations, an initiative led by the Department of Business and Enterprise Management at FEMA, which promotes multiculturalism and global engagement in entrepreneurial education.
Reflecting on the success of the initiative, Prof. Emanuel Said, Dean of FEMA, noted:
"This bootcamp reflects our faculty’s ongoing commitment to experiential learning, international collaboration, and engagement across the University. We are proud to support such initiatives that prepare students to meet global challenges with entrepreneurial energy."
Thank you also to Dr Godwin Caruana, Mr Louis Naudi and Dr Anthony Farrugia from FEMA, as well as Prof. Leonie Baldacchino from The Edward de Bono Institute for Creative Thinking and Innovation, for their input and support through mentoring and guest contributions to the programme.
The 2025 edition once again reaffirmed the role of the bootcamp as a launchpad for innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurial development—empowering students to turn ideas into real-world impact.
