An event commemorating Jan Palach was held on 19 January next to the commemorative plaque at the University of Malta Msida Campus. 

H.E. Hana Hubáčková, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malta, Professor Godfrey Pirotta, Malta’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Dr Carmen Sammut, Pro-Rector for Students and Staff Affairs and Outreach at the University of Malta both gave a short speech during this event.

Also present were Mr Tonio Casapinta, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic to Malta, Dr V. Nezval President of the Czech Compatriots Society, members of the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) and Czech nationals resident in Malta.
