On 9 November 2016 , Dr George Azzopardi, from the Department of Intelligent Computer Systems at the Faculty of ICT, gave a keynote speech about his research in the reputable conference CIARP (Ibero American Conference on Pattern Recognition), which was held in Lima, Peru. He presented results from his research about a trainable approach to visual pattern recognition, which is an increasingly popular topic in artificial intelligence. His talk can be downloaded from the following link.
Dr Azzopardi had the honour of being invited alongside the high calibre scientists Prof. Yann LeCun (Director AI Research at Facebook), Prof. B. S. Manjunath (Director of the Center for Bioimage informatics, University of California) and Prof. Xiaohui Liu (Brunel Unviersity).
CIARP 2016 was the 21st in the CIARP series of annual international conferences devoted to all aspects of pattern recognition, computer vision, multmedia and related fields.
