On 8 February 2017 the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies unveiled a plaque in honour of Chancellor Prof. David Attard commemorating the initiative which he led and which resulted in the setting up of the Academy in 1990.
During his address Prof. Attard reflected upon his instrumental role at a diplomatic level that resulted in the Governments of Malta and Switzerland setting up the Academy. Professor Attard expressed his gratitude to MEDAC for this recognition.
Since the launching of its postgraduate programmes in 1990 more than 700 alumni from countries in the Mediterranean and beyond have benefitted from Mediterranean-centric Masters courses in Diplomatic Studies and today are members of the MEDAC Alumni Network.

Director of the Academy, Prof. Stephen Calleya expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Prof. Attard for all his support through the years and for inspiring MEDAC in its activities through his leadership and wisdom. MEDAC and IMLI academic staff as well as students of the Diploma in Diplomatic Studies attended the event.
