The University Futsal Team has re-established a fine string of results, with three convincing wins and a draw against last season's K/O Champions Hamrun Tre Angeli, after succumbing to their only defeat of the season against League leaders Valletta FC Futsal. However, on Friday the 24th, they face what on paper is the strongest test of all, Luxol Saint Andrews Futsal.
Luxol Saint Andrews Futsal need no introduction, the team in Purple have been the dominant force in the Maltese Futsal Scene ever since their merger with the strong Balzan outfit in the 2015, winning two of the past three Championships, and having major success in both the K/O and Super Cup competitions during the past three Seasons. This year Luxol Saint Andrews have gone a step further and asserted themselves as a respected Futsal Team on the European Stage, qualifying for the Main Round of the UEFA Futsal Cup and gaining an unprecedented victory against Bosnian Champions Mostar Futsal in Romania. Their commitments and Europe have taken their toll on their results in the FMA Gatorade Championship, with Luxol currently standing at 6th place with 12 points, albeit having 3 games at hand, having won 5 out of the 6 games and losing to Valletta FC Futsal in an entertaining match earlier this month.
The University of Malta Futsal Team has had a fine start to the Championship this season, winning 6 out of the 8 games disputed, drawing 1 and losing only 1 match so far. Despite the massive improvements and development of the Team, the Whites will still be viewed as underdogs when facing an experienced and potent squad such as Luxol Saint Andrews Futsal. The support of our loyal Student following and the passion of our fans may help us bridge the gap between the two teams on paper and help us achieve the improbable! We need you to lend us your voices for one night and be behind our boys through thick and thin. Whatever the foe, we shall #DareToAchieve.
