Director, Legal Services, Dr Christopher Soler, has been awarded a Research Doctorate in International Criminal Law by the Universiteit van Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam), The Netherlands, the fatherland of International Law.
Dr Soler successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled 'The Global Prosecution Of Core Crimes Under International Law'. This in-depth study was researched and written under the tutorship of Professor Harmen van der Wilt, of the Faculty of Law of the University of Amsterdam, who served as ad litem Judge of the District Court of Roermond and received the Edmond Hustinx prize for excellence in research in 1999.

Dr Soler graduated Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta and furthered his studies at post-graduate level at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, where he was awarded a Master of Laws (LL.M.), with distinction, in International Criminal Law. He also graduated M.A. (Master of Arts) in Contemporary European Studies in the following year at the same university.
He lectures Criminal Law and International Criminal Law, is a member of the Board of Administrators of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) and Company Secretary of Malta University Holding Company Limited (MUHC) and its subsidiaries. He holds the position of Chairperson of one of the Chambers of the Refugee Appeals Board. Between January and June 2017, under the auspices of the Maltese Presidency of the EU Council, Dr Soler chaired the EU Council Working Groups on Public International Law and on the International Criminal Court.
