Professor Matthew Montebello is currently on a 1-year visiting scholar offer from the University of Illinois performing research in the intelligent environments domain through collaboration with the College of Education and the Computer Science.
The University of Illinois is one of the top preeminent research universities in the United States with a land-grant mission and global impact that has produced 28 Nobel prize laureates and 22 Pulitzer winners.
The Illiac computer was the first computer ever built and owned at the University of Illinois where the first e-learning courses were ever launched. Professor Montebello, who is collaborating with Prof. William Cope and Prof. Mary Kalantzis, has also been contracted by Springer to publish his research on the application of ambient intelligence to education. Earlier this year he published another Springer monograph on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in e-learning.
Professor Montebello forms part of the Artificial Intelligence department within the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta.
