Six students following engineering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes within the Faculty of ICT, have recently attended a week-intensive course in Bordeaux, France. This intensive course forms part of an Erasmus+ project called Next Generation Media over 4G+ Infrastructures, whose partners are the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, the University of Malta, Bordeaux INP, the University of Nicosia, and Kingston University.
The intensive course was the third one in the series and dealt with QoS/QoE modelling and management. It was hosted by the Bordeaux INP, Telecommunications department of the ENSEIRB-MATMECA School of Engineers, Bordeaux, France.
Professor Carl James Debono and Dr Johann Briffa from the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering delivered one of the lectures on “Media Manipulation Techniques for Guaranteed QoE Provision” and attended the consortium meeting. Other than the technical material and a challenge, the students and staff were invited to wine tasting in a winery operated by the University.
The students from the University of Malta did well in this course, finishing in the top places among participants from all the participating institutions in the exam done at the end, with Mr Noel Farrugia placing first, Mr Daniel Bonanno second, and Mr Aaron Abela third.
A certificate of attendance was issued to all participants.
