The Faculty for Social Wellbeing in collaboration with RIDT has launched the Dr Jacqueline Azzopardi Scholarship, at an event held on Monday 14 May at the University of Malta Valletta Campus.
The M.Phil./Ph.D. scholarship will be in Criminology Studies, an area very close to Dr Azzopardi, former Head, Department of Criminology and Deputy Dean who passed away in 2016.
Her Excellency the Acting President Dolores Cristina attended the event.
The event included speeches by the Dean, Prof. Andrew Azzopardi, the current Head of Department Prof. Saviour Foromsa, a colleague and close friend of Dr Azzopardi, Dr Sandra Scicluna and the Director of RIDT, Mr Wlfred Kenely.
The compere was the renowned broadcaster Ms Clare Agius. Family, friends and former colleagues pledged financial commitment to this scholarship.
