The Centre for Labour Studies (CLS) held a reception on 25 June to celebrate the launch of the book ‘Under Attack’ by Dr Francis La Ferla, an ex-course coordinator of the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety at the CLS.
Written for undergraduates, adult students and practitioners of Safety and Health, the book provides basic knowledge of the ever-increasing number of substances that people at work are exposed to on a daily basis and their importance in Safety and Health. The book aids individuals to plan and implement approaches to identify and reduce the health impact of potentially hazardous substances in the workplace environment.
During this well-attended book launch, Dr Anna Borg, the Director of the CLS congratulated Dr La Ferla on his achievement, whereas Mr Luke Fiorini, course coordinator of the Bachelor in Occupational Health and Safety remarked on the value of such a book both locally and globally. Dr LaFerla then addressed the crowd and provided an overview of the book and recent toxicological facts. Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, the Chairperson of the CLS closed the discussion by discussing the great contribution Dr La Ferla had given to the CLS over many years, whilst also highlighting how the CLS supported mature students to further their education.
The Bachelor in Occupational Health and Safety (Hons) offered by the CLS is due to re-open this October and applications are currently open.
