New students, new courses and total number of students
New students
The University of Malta starts its new Academic Year today, with over 3573 new students (number of new students updated as at 30 September 2019).
2234 students will be following undergraduate courses, while 1339 students will be reading for postgraduate degrees.
Another 914 new students will be joining Junior College, to bring the total number of students to 1770.
International students
A total of 950 international students representing 111 different countries will be pursuing studies at the University this year.
Total number of students
The total number of students at the University of Malta for academic year 2019-2020 is 11750, of which 4739 are male and 7011 female, following a total of 921 courses.

At present, the Admissions Office is working to process applications from persons who sat for the Matriculation Examination’s September Session and whose results were published last week. These applicants have been advised that in case of a positive result which should qualify them for the course of their choice, they can attend Freshers’ week and lectures even before they receive their official letter of acceptance.
Lectures for continuing students commenced on 23 September 2019. Lectures for fresher students will commence on 3 October 2019.
