The Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) strengthened its cooperation with the French Embassy in Malta through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed on 23 November 2020 by MEDAC Director Prof. Stephen Calleya and H.E. Ms. Brigitte Curmi, French Ambassador to Malta.

The memorandum foresees greater cooperation between both entities to increase activities, training programmes as well as an exchange of specialists and experts in the fields of foreign policy and diplomacy, and other pertinent subjects.

H.E. Ambassador Curmi said that since the first months of her posting to Malta, she has regarded MEDAC’s contribution to the region as an extremely relevant one and thus she wanted to enhance cooperation with the Academy. She augured that the signing of the MoU provides the framework through which further areas of cooperation can be explored.

MEDAC Director Prof. Calleya expressed his gratitude to the French Embassy for recognizing the significant contribution that MEDAC has been making towards confidence building across the Mediterranean through its postgraduate academic instruction of young diplomats from the region. MEDAC is proud to count more than 800 alumni, many from Mediterranean countries, who over the years have represented their countries at the highest levels.

Pro-Rector Prof. Tanya Sammut-Bonnici represented the University of Malta at the signing.
