A large-scale exhibition called Documents of Socially Engaged Art was launched at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta last Friday, December 10, 2021.
This exhibition is curated by Professor Raphael Vella, who is an Associate Professor at the Department of Arts, Open communities and Adult education at the University of Malta and various international members of the 'Acting on the Margins: Arts as Social Sculpture' (AMASS) team, the exhibition documents research on over 30 socially engaged art and creative projects carried out by eight partner countries around Europe.
The multimedia exhibition combines photography and video with various artefacts produced in arts projects that involved participants in different communities in theatre, performance, visual art, photography and other forms of creative expression. The exhibition was accompanied by a book launch and will remain open to the general public until January 23, 2022.
