Kite group has recently published a book by Mr Gordon Caruana Dingli entitled 'We went to the Moon'.
Mr Gordon Caruana Dingli is a visiting senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery at the University of Malta and Clinical Chairman in the Department of Surgery at Mater Dei Hospital.
The book, about Apollo 11 and the first Moon landing, discusses the history of rockets and early spaceflight and then explains how the Moon rocket worked. Caruana Dingli explores links between Apollo 11 and Malta describing newspapers, television, stamp issues and visits to Malta by Apollo astronauts. A section of the book is dedicated to anecdotes about the night of the Moon landing by 50 different individuals.
Even though the Moon landing was wholly an American venture it was done on behalf of all mankind. At the time the Maltese were very interested in this exploration and felt part of the endeavour.
